Margaret Stapleton, 78, cherished by her family, peacefully transitioned into her eternity Tuesday evening, January 27, 2026, at Pruitt Health-Old Capitol Nursing Home in Louisville, being admitted there on January 23,2026 after a two-week hospitalization at Wellstar-MCG in Augusta.
A native of Dublin, Margaret was born on August 16, 1947. Her life was characterized by her sweet and loving nature, her persistent spirit, and her remarkable ability to bring joy to those around her.
Margaret dedicated a significant portion of her life while living at a group home sponsored by Developmental Disabilities Ministry of Atlanta for 37 years to her career, initially working at Shoney's in Forsyth. Moving to Augusta in 2011, she found her passion at Lynndale Learning Center refinishing and refurbishing furniture, a craft she embraced for over a decade until her retirement. Her work was not just a job, but an expression of her creativity and dedication.
She was known for her servant's heart, always ready to give and share with others. Whether it was bringing gifts that would bring smiles or simply being a source of light, Margaret had an innate ability to make those around her feel special and valued. Those fortunate enough to cross paths with her often remarked on her great sense of humor and love for playful teasing, qualities that illuminated any room she entered. Her favorite colors were yellow, which was emblematic of the sunshine she brought into the lives of others, and purple.
Margaret's interests extended beyond her work; she loved spending time with her family and cultivating relationships with friends. She enjoyed dining out and shopping, sharing these experiences with those she held dear. The bonds she formed throughout her life were a testament to her deep affection for people.
She is survived by her sisters, Brenda S. Carlan (Steve) of Louisville and Ann Stapleton of North Augusta, SC; three nieces, Christine Greves of Orlando, FL, Jennifer Bennin (Scott) of Louisville, and Sarah Harrison (Kevin) of Orlando, FL; and other extended family who will carry her memory forward.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Marie Cope Stapleton and Dr. James Wright Stapleton Sr., as well as her siblings, James Stapleton Jr, Janet Stapleton, and Carol Carrere.
A private graveside service will be held in the family plot at Northview Cemetery in Dublin where she will join her parents and two of her siblings.
The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to Pruitt Health Hospice for their loving, compassionate and professional care.
Her legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will undoubtedly continue to influence and inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
