I wanted to wait and think. What we had deserves patience and thought.
For over fifty seven years we've been heart to heart.
Oh my love, Margaret, I want to TRY to express what you've meant to me.
First, that "hello beautiful" every time I called, no one has ever, nor ever will again, call me that. Thank you from this ugly duckling your love made a swan of. Next, our minutes long hugs - neither of us wanting to let go first. I have to mention your deep love of family, your parents always treated me like they would their own, you cared for your mom so lovingly. And each of your siblings held such a special place in your limitless heart. Then, Sean. I remember my first glimpse of him - gorgeous dimpled boy - you loved him so fiercely. Joe, how you told me long ago - he was the love of your life and the places you´d go - thank God for Joe.
When I walk into the forest and see a beautiful flower, you are there - as with beauty you were blessed. When I hear my grandsons laughter - you are there - he has those dimples like you, Sean ( and his mom) and he laughs with his whole body like you do. When I hear my favorite Led Zeppelin song - you are there as it was the track of our youth, driving and head banging. Jumping over opening bridges and ...... all sorts.
When I hear a particular Foreigner song - you are there, still framed in my mind; dancing in front of the band - as usual all eyes on you so uniquely beautiful - and you joyfully laughing and twirling, that twinkle in those gorgeous eyes. You are the memory of my son, maybe 6 years old, seeing you in a bikini - saying "Oh wow Aunt Margaret!!" (We still laughed about it.)
You are there in my heart with every sunrise on the water of my favorite place in Brevort, where we finally went together - because I think of the steadfastness of the sun - so to are You - to me, and me to you. Through every phase of the moon, every butterfly that has ever flown, every bird that ever sang, every season, nearly my entire lifetime, you were there - the bad and the good. Thank you, (two small words, but a wealth of love and gratitude enclosed within.) I am so grateful you were in my life, my dearest friend . Until we meet again, play with your pups and mine, I´ll be seeing you.
