Margaret (Maggie) Mae White was peacefully called home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 23, 2024 at the age of 80.

Maggie was born on July 28, 1943 to Kenneth and Nellie (Lee) Preston in Bay City. After residing in Munger for a few years, the family moved to a farm in the Millington area. She was an active member of 4H throughout childhood and teenage years, even winning the Public Speaking Award in 1962. A graduate of Millington High School, Class of 1962, Maggie proudly served as Editor of her high school Yearbook during her senior year.

Maggie married Clifton (Bill) Wilbur White Jr of Vassar on March 2, 1963, and together they raised 2 sons. While she stayed home with children when they were young, she returned to the workforce as they grew older.  Maggie worked at Genesee Bank and held various positions at Welco, ITT Plastics and Volplex.  She was also employed at Mallory’s restaurant and served as an aide for Millington Schools.

Maggie was a highly active member within her community and local church. She was a Founding Member of the Millington Junior Women’s Club and an Auxiliary member of Gideons International. During her 60+ year tenure at Vassar Nazarene Church she served as Sunday School teacher, Jr Church Leader and Church Secretary.

She had a love of photography, always capturing candid shots and portraits of those she loved and places she had visited, and she also loved writing. Maggie authored several articles for the Pioneer Times Newspaper (even being named “Maggie of Murphy Lake”). She also enjoyed writing cards, letters, and postcards to her beloved family and friends.

Throughout adulthood, she enjoyed traveling with her friends, vacationing, and much-loved shopping trips with her sister, Nancy, and niece, Lisa. Maggie was also a very loving, supportive, and devoted grandmother.  She frequently attended performances, sporting events, and any other activities her grandchildren were taking part in.

Other than spending time with her family, Maggie loved butterflies, Elvis Presley, President and First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, chocolate, and all things pink and “glitzy”. She will always be remembered as a very kind, gentle, and loving soul.

Maggie is survived by her husband Bill; sons Randy (Linda) White of Grand Blanc, Mark (Marnie) White of Grand Rapids; grandchildren Erica (Steven) Olsen of Washington D.C. ; Ciara and Dillon White of Grand Rapids, and great-granddaughter Isla Olsen; brother Lee Preston (Lifelong friend, Shirley Mays) of Millington; sister Nancy (Francis) Kukulski of Vassar; several brothers and sisters in law, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Kenneth and Nellie (Lee) Preston; infant son, Kurt White; infant sister, Mary Ann Preston; sister-in-law Arlene Preston; along with many other brothers and sisters-in-law, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place on Friday, March 1, 2024, at Hanlin Funeral Home in Millington from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Services will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Vassar Church of the Nazarene (3822 W. Saginaw Rd, Vassar, MI 48768) at 11:00 am with a 1 hour visitation beginning prior at 10:00 am. Burial in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens will immediately follow the funeral service.
