Margaret L. White

1926 - 2021

Margaret L. "Peggy" White, passed away Monday, Sept. 6, 2021. She was born Nov. 4, 1926, in Mercy Hospital, Pittsburgh. She attended St Peter's elementary and high school on Market St in McKeesport. After graduation, she moved with her family to Arlington, Va. She was employed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in Washington, D.C., as a public information specialist for 36 years. After retiring, she moved to Michigan City, Ind., to help care for her sister and brother-in-law. After the death of her relatives, she decided to move back "home." She was always proud of her McKeesport roots and her Irish heritage. Peggy was a devout Catholic and an active member of Christ the Divine Shepherd Parish. She enjoyed traveling with her family, especially their trips to Ireland. She was a great conversationalist and was always well informed about the national news. She was a resident at Beatty Point, UPMC Retirement Home, until this July when she transferred to Elmcroft Senior Living Facility in Bridgeville. She was preceded in death by her parents, John White and Margaret Gibbs White; sister, Jane (George) Bowie; and brothers, John (Jack) and William White. She is survived by cousins, Sally and Sara Jane McLaughlin and Patricia and Samuel McElhinny; and numerous other cousins. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021, at the GENE H. CORL FUNERAL CHAPEL INC. AND CREMATION SERVICES OF MONROEVILLE, 4335 Northern Pike (412-372-2100). Mass of Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 10, at Christ the Divine Shepherd Parish at St Bernadette Church, 245 Azalea Drive, Monroeville. Interment following in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.
