Margaret (Peggy) Traynham Wilson

Peggy passed away on November 17, 2025, at the Embrace Hospice House in Myrtle Beach. She ended her fight with Alzheimer's disease peacefully. She was born on August 11, 1940, and raised in Greenville, SC by her parents, Earle C. Traynham and Ruth League Traynham. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, William (Bill) Gibson Wilson, PhD of Pawleys Island, and by their three children and seven grandchildren: Patricia W. Jones (Brad), Riley Jones, DVM and Margaret Jones Bonnet (Zavier) of Mooresville, NC; Mark G. Wilson (Kristin), Blakely, Brooks, and Hudson of Newnan, GA; and Georgia W. Reuter (Mason), Ellie and Wilson of Sandy, UT, and her brother Earle C. Traynham, PhD (Ann) of Jacksonville, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Kelly T. McCall and Sarah T. Stovall, and her brother, James L. Traynham.

She and Bill lived in nine different states during their marriage where Peggy always made sure their houses were loving homes along with making many friends in each location. She managed raising their children while they grew up in three of the states after moves. They retired to Pawleys Island in 2001.

She was a superb cook, an avid tennis player, walker and needlepointer with numerous examples displayed around her home, in the church kneelers and in the church history tapestry hanging in Holy Cross Faith Memorial Episcopal Church in Pawleys Island. Her Monday needlepoint group met for many years and gave her great joy. She loved Holy Cross and served in several other ministries there including the Lay Eucharistic Ministry, Reader, Usher, and Flower Guild. She was a Stephen Minister and completed the Theological Education by Extension, Education for Ministry, University of the South. She attended Furman University, was a Medical Secretary in Greenville, SC as well as Tucson, AZ and was the Executive Secretary of the Chemical Engineering Department at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA. She was a proud member of PEO Chapter AL.

She loved being with her children and grandchildren, especially when gathering at their beach house every summer on Litchfield Beach and the Christmas all-family gathering at their home.

Her celebration of life will be held at Holy Cross Faith Memorial Episcopal Church, Pawleys Island at 11:30 AM on Saturday November 22, 2025. Inurnment will be at the church following the service. A luncheon will be served after the service in the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Holy Cross Faith Memorial Episcopal Church Endowment Fund at 113 Baskervil Drive, Pawleys Island, SC 29585 will be appreciated. The family is thankful for the loving care of the attendants and nurses at the Lakes of Litchfield where she spent the last two years and the Embrace Hospice House.
