Margarete Dunay

Margarete Dunay, age 100 of East Stroudsburg, PA, a former resident of Effort, PA for 49 years passed away peacefully at her son's home on Tuesday, November 25, 2025 and by God's grace is now with her beloved Savior, Jesus Christ.
Margarete was born in Germany on July 21, 1925, daughter of the late Heinrich and Ottilie (Bergstraesser) Brendle.
She was the loving wife of the late Michael Dunay, who preceded her in death on August 25, 2005.
Margarete had worked as a bookkeeper for many years.
She attended Cornerstone Community Church in Kresgeville, PA and was a former member of Salem St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Kresgeville, PA.
We have been blessed with the presence of Margarete in our lives. She will be deeply missed by her loving son: Douglas Dunay and his wife Janet of East Stroudsburg, PA.
She was the loving grandmother to Savannah Flint and husband Tyler of Brodheadsville, PA, Brittany Dunay of Oklahoma City, OK and a great grandmother to Cora Belle, Asher Douglas and Brodie Zane. She will also be missed by her sister-in-law Gladys Maier and her husband Walter as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Gower Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 1426 Route 209, Gilbert, PA with Pastor Stuart Szmaciasz officiating.
Family and friends are welcome to offer condolences on Thursday, December 4, 2025, from 10 am until time of service at the funeral home.
Margarete will be laid to rest at the Jerusalem Lutheran Cemetery in Palmerton, PA
