Margarette Moss Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Paradise Memorial Funeral Home - Miami on Dec. 11, 2025.
On January 26, 1934, Margarette Moss was born to John and Aulif Cunningham in Cabbage Hill, Crooked Island, Bahamas. She was the fourth of seven daughters and the beloved twin sister of Olive.

Margarette left the Bahamas to join her husband Ronald Moss in matrimony. They were united in marriage on January 11, 1957, and made their home in Homestead, Florida. Their 60-year union was blessed with five wonderful children: Bernard, Wilbert, Thomas, Anthony, and Tara.

Margarette began her walk with the Lord as a young girl at St. Paul Baptist Church in Crooked Island, Bahamas. After moving to the United States, she became a devoted member of New Mount Zion Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and served in various ministries. Her favorite scripture was Psalm 91, a passage that reflected her unwavering faith and trust in God.

She built a long and dedicated career at James Archer Smith Hospital, where she worked for 24 years until her retirement. Beyond her professional life, Margarette was a devoted homemaker who filled her home with warmth. She loved cooking, baking, arts and crafts, and spending time with family.

Her dedication to Christ was seen in every aspect of her life. Margarette lived a life with love, kindness, and compassion. She was a servant leader, a nurturer, a friend, a counselor, and a comforting presence to all who knew her. To know her was truly to love her. She always offered a kind word and often reminded others to "give people their flowers while they can see and smell them." She was a pillar of strength, grace, and humility, and was deeply respected by her family, friends, church, and community.

On November 27, 2025, surrounded by her family, Margarette was called home to be with the Lord.

She was predeceased by her parents, John and Aulif; her husband, Ronald; her son, Bernard; her sisters: Vera McKinney, Edna Bain, Tressie Strachan, Olive Cunningham, and Eliza Deleveaux; and grandson, Javaris Howard.
Margarette's legacy lives on through her children: Wilbert (Terri), Thomas (Patricia), Anthony, Tara, Sandra, and Charon; her grandchildren: Kassa, Pekeia, Carman, Teala, Miciah, Taylor, Sydney, Ashley, Joshua, Ansley, Najja, Takia, Cheyenne, Alexis, Laquana, Tania, Charlie, and Tequeda; her 29 great-grandchildren; her sister, Ismae Seymour; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of other relatives and friends.
