Marge Halfmann

Marjorie "Marge" Marie Halfmann, of St. Johns, passed away peacefully on June 14, 2025, at Hazel Findlay Country Manor. She was 95 years old.
Marge was born on August 30, 1929, in Lansing, Michigan, the daughter of Herman and Caroline (Wohlscheid) Spitzley. On April 28, 1953, she married Joseph Halfmann, with whom she shared 66 loving years until his passing on August 10, 2019.
A devoted homemaker, Marge dedicated her life to raising her four children and caring for her family. She was a longtime member of St. Casimir Catholic Church and found great joy in gardening, sewing, and crocheting. She was also a big fan of Detroit Tigers baseball.
She is survived by her children: LuAnn (Charles) Therrian, Janet (James) Halfmann-Erickson, and Roy (Deb) Halfmann; her sister Kady (Davie) Courter; her son-in-law, Randy Dodge; 13 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Marge was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph; her daughter, Rita Dodge; her parents; her siblings, Mathias (Catherine) Spitzley, Eugene Spitzley, Bruce Spitzley, and Marilyn (Leo) Mulcahy.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff and caregivers at Hazel Findlay Country Manor and Compassus Hospice for their compassionate care.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 6-7:30 PM; Rosary 7 PM at McGeehan Funeral Home, Keck-Coleman Chapel, 1500 Waterford Pkwy, St. Johns.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025, 11 AM, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 109 Linden Street, St. Johns. Rev. Fr. Michael Williams officiating. Friends may gather at the church from 10-11 AM. A luncheon will follow. A private interment of ashes with the immediate family will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery, Lansing.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hazel Findlay Country Manor or to Compassus Hospice.
