It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Margo. She was many things to so many people: a wife, a mother, a grandmother, an aunt and a sibling. She was valued as a good friend by countless others she met on her life's journey. On February 25th, in the comfort of her family's home in Katy, she passed away peacefully in her sleep.
Margo was born on a beautiful, autumnal day in Midland, Texas. She lived there until she graduated in 1977 from Midland High School. She met her future husband through an interesting turn of events. Driving around town one day, she unexpectantly had a flat tire. A strapping young man, who just happened to be driving by, stopped and happily changed her flat tire. This roadside hero was Gary Scrogin. Shortly after this chance encounter, Margo and Gary began to date. Gary was the man of her dreams and on June 14, 1980 they were married in Midland. The couple had two handsome sons named Gary Alan and Hunter. Both boys were raised in Pecan Grove, near Houston. The family also lived for a while in Edmond, Oklahoma. They enjoyed their time in Edmond and loved the town, the people, and their home before moving back to the Houston area. Margo, while busy as a full-time mother and a professional caregiver, uncovered an interest in bowling. She nurtured this passion and made new friends by joining several different women's leagues. Margo became remarkably close to her new friends and bowled with them for over 30 years. Gary, Gary Alan and Hunter also shared a love of bowling. They had a great fondness for bowling together as a family and in league competitions, for many years.
Her father, Buck Wilson, introduced her to the beauty of Laguna Beach, California. Margo never lost her profound love for Laguna Beach and introduced Gary to this seaside town. They loved exploring the town and walking up and down the beautiful beach together.
Margo was unselfish and devoted herself fully to her husband Gary, and their two sons. She was blessed with a grandson, Owen and loved spending time with him. They developed a special and strong bond of love for each other. Margo was an extraordinarily loving wife, mother, grandmother, and caregiver. She had a distinct way with people and the ability to put them at ease, bringing them joy and inserting her trademark laughter into every conversation. She will be fondly remembered for her lovely genuine laughter and her down-to-earth personality, which was both real and honest. She had the ability to love deeply, and she was loved by all who knew her.
Margo was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Wilson Dyer, stepfather, Irby L. Dyer, her father, Buck Wilson, and stepmother, Fran Wilson. She also was preceded by her older brother, Kevin Wilson.
Margo leaves behind a legacy of true love and is survived by her husband of forty-four years, Gary Scrogin, son Hunter Buck Scrogin, both of Katy, Texas, son Gary Alan Scrogin, his wife Lisa, daughters Sophie and Layla, son Owen, Margo's grandson and bright light of love, all of Tomball, Texas. Margo Scrogin is also survived by her siblings, sister, Gail Wilson Ashford, of Tallahassee, Florida, her brother, Bart Wilson, of Midland, Texas, and by her brother, Baron Wilson, and his wife, Stephanie Wilson, of Austin, Texas. Margo leaves behind her beautiful nieces, Holly Galotti, and husband Will, Hannah Eckler, and husband T. R., all of Tallahassee, Florida and Samantha Wilson, and Erin Ashford, and partner, Steven Parcell, all of Austin, Texas, and by her loving, three great-nephews, and two great-nieces. As per Margo's request, there will not be a public service. Instead, there will be a private celebration of life and love with her immediate family in the near future. Our love for Margo, and her love for us, knows no boundaries. Our love for each other is forever embedded in our hearts. We love you so very much, dear Margo.
