Morehead City - Margo Mae Snively, 83, of Morehead City, North Carolina, passed away on January 15, 2026, at ECU Health Medical Center.

A funeral service to honor Margo's life will be held at 1 p.m., January 22, at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by John Grayson. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior.

Born on May 21, 1942, in Lansing, Michigan, Margo was the beloved daughter of the late Kenneth and Marjora Lusch. A devout Catholic woman, her faith was a guiding force throughout her life, and she was a faithful member of St. Egbert Catholic Church.

Margo had a lifelong passion for learning and service. After earning her master's degree, she dedicated her career to education, where she touched countless lives as both a teacher and a coach. She took great pride in helping others grow, always offering encouragement, patience, and kindness.

Outside of her career, Margo found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid reader, a talented crafter whose creativity showed in everything she made, and she never passed up the chance for a fun shopping trip. Passionate about helping others, Margo gave generously of her time and heart, including raising leader dogs for the blind-an effort that reflected her deep compassion and commitment to service.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her devoted husband, Thomas Ervin Snively; daughters, Traci Laatsch (Robert), Staci Freyling (Dave), and Kim Taylor (Gordon); son, Andrew Troy Snively; sister, Minda Schneider (Bernard); 5 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Leader Dogs for the Blind, 1039 S. Rochester Rd., Rochester Hills, MI 48307.

Online condolences may be made at www.mundenfuneralhome.net. Arrangements by Munden Funeral Home, Morehead City, NC.

I grew up with Margo. She started out as my phys ed teacher in 7th grade. She then became my coach for softball and volleyball and my confidante in my early adult life. I adored her matter of fact ways and honesty. I lost touch with her after her retirement. I wish that would not have happened! Rest in Peace my dear!

While working at Hope, I knew each time Margo entered the office I was going to laugh out loud!

Whether it was to bring in a misbehaving student (always referred to as "THIS Chiiiild....") or just to pop in for a quick hello, I KNEW I was going to enjoy myself. She brought so much joy & laughter to me over the years-I missed her in retirement & will miss her in this life.

Thank you for being such an entertaining coworker, rest in peace Margo.

From a meek Middle Schooler to a mature adult, Mrs. Snively helped shape who I am today - I could write a book!
Teaching hard work, discipline, physical & mental strength all while making you laugh HYSTERICALLY.

My teammates will remember the annual "soft hands" lecture...our trip to the water park with Mr. Snively in tow...what a riot!

The woman was the whole package - mind, body (always saying she was the bionic woman - fully made of manufactured parts ) & soul.

Thank you for teaching me that being a strong, athletic, competitive woman was a GOOD thing.

You ARE & will forever be MISSED, rest that wonderful soul...

My heart goes out to the ENTIRE family-feel our virtual arms around you...

Very sad to see this. Mrs. Snively was my gym
teacher, softball, and volleyball coach. She played a big role in teaching me to "believe in yourself, or no one else will." She truly had a huge impact and influence on my life. May she rest in peace!
