Margo Vander Berg Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Langeland-Sterenberg Funeral Home on Nov. 20, 2025.
Margo Rose Vander Berg, age 86, of Holland, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday,

November 17, 2025, surrounded by her family.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill, who passed away this past February.

Together, Margo and Bill shared just shy of 70 years of marriage. Margo was the oldest of five children,

all raised by their devoted mother.

Margo was a stay-at-home mom until her children reached middle school. After earning her GED, she

became a medical assistant and worked in several doctors' offices throughout the Holland area. She

remained active in the community as a longtime member of Fourteenth Street Christian Reformed

Church, participated in Bible studies, stayed active at Evergreen Commons and the Aquatic Center, and

continued to volunteer after retirement.

As a family, Margo, Bill, and their three children spent their summers camping at Birch Point

Campground. Margo and Bill created many memories together on snowmobiling trips in the winter

and boating adventures in the summer. Although she had a fear of the water, Margo supported Bill

wholeheartedly in all his sailing and racing activities-even joining the racing committee. She was

always by his side as an active and enthusiastic supporter of the Macatawa Bay Yacht Club.

Margo is survived by her children, Kristine and Stu Solomon, Mark and Diane Vander Berg, and Laurie

Honor; her six grandchildren, Tina (Phil) Michmerhuizen, Alesha (Tim) Dewit, Sarah (Tim) Smith, Daniel

(Anna) Vander Berg, Nicholas (Daniel) Byrd, and Andrea (Tim) Thielke; and twelve great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by her siblings, Dee Post, Rich (Bev) Woltman, Roger (Bev) Woltman, and Linda

(Art) Gonzales; as well as her brother-in-law, Flip Heerspink. She is preceded in death by sisters-in-law,

Phillis Heerspink and Sandy Elzinga and brothers-in-law, Stu Post and Chuck Elzinga.
