Margot WILSON Obituary

September 6, 1935 - January 9, 2025

Spokane Valley - Our beloved mother, Margot Ellen (Stryk) Wilson, aged 89, passed away in Spokane Valley on January 9th, 2025, surrounded by loved ones, after a brief illness. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She was born at home, in St. Paul, MN, on September 6, 1935, to Mabel and Michael Stryk. Margot had a sister, Jean, and a brother, Robert. She graduated from Central High School in St Paul and completed a year of college. Margot worked for 25 years in a successful career as a certified medical transcriptionist. She wrote the medical transcriptionist job description and developed a medical transcription reference library for the Washington State Department of Employment Security. Margot took great pride in her work and loved putting out a report that was accurate and neatly typed. She retired from Sacred Heart Hospital in 2001.

Margot met her husband, Walter Wilson, in Spokane. They married on December 17, 1959, and raised four children in Spokane Valley. They were married for 48 years when he passed away on December 24, 2006.

Margot enjoyed baking, reading, Bible study, Volksmarching, and spending time laughing with her friends and family. She moved to Good Samaritan Retirement Community in July of 2019, where she served as a floor representative and organized and attended many activities. She maintained a lifelong curiosity and loved creating art and attending many classes on local and world history. Margot also loved going on adventures with her best friend, Marilyn, and had some great stories to tell. She attended Advent Lutheran and Opportunity Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deacon. Church was a very important part of her life. She loved watching Gonzaga Men's basketball games and the Seattle Mariners. Margot quietly donated every month to several charities.

She is survived by her four children, Robert Wilson (Maggie) of Renton, Mary Smith of Post Falls, Anne Wilson (Michael) of Olympia, and Sharon Barnes of St. Mary's, GA; her grandchildren, Michelle Rich, Amy Butler (Ben), Chris Cooper (Lauren), Diane, Jason, and Donna Wilson, Maxwell and Wilson Mondress, and Micheal Smith; and 16 great-grandchildren.

We would like to thank the staff of the CCU department at Multicare Valley Hospital, especially nurse, Karen, for their kindness and compassion in caring for her.

There will be a memorial service to celebrate her life at 1 pm on February 15th, 2025, at Advent Lutheran Church, 13009 E Broadway Ave., Spokane Valley. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations be sent to one of her favorite charities, Union Gospel Mission or St Jude Children's Research Hospital.
