Marguerite E. Gray Hines, 94, passed away surrounded by family in Phoenix, AZ on March 20, 2026, after complications from a fall.
Marguerite was born on January 16, 1932, and graduated from St. Joseph’s Academy in Des Moines, IA. She married Jack Gray on August 12, 1950. They raised 4 children and farmed in Warren County for 43 years. She also worked as a business assistant at BP Amoco Credit Union before retiring to Bella Vista, Arkansas for 11 years.
After Jack passed away, Marguerite lived in Indianola, IA for the past 21 years. She married Charlie Hines on April 12, 2008. Marguerite loved her family and friends. She lived life to the fullest and enjoyed playing cards, going out to eat, playing games, reading, line dancing, Tai Chi and lots of visiting with family and friends. She also loved her church and was devoted to her faith, attending adoration and bible studies. She was a deeply loving mom, grandma, wife and friend who will be dearly missed.
Marguerite is survived by her daughters, Marianne (Donnie) Kohrs, Jacqui (Doug) Hart, Christina (Kevin) Smith; step-children, Carl, Clay, Cindy (Crippen) and Candy Hines, and many adored grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Marguerite was preceded in death by her son, Dennis Gray, husbands Jack Gray and Charlie Hines, parents, Henry and Elizabeth Brick, and siblings, Mary Libby and Betty Miller.
A Funeral Mass for Marguerite will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 30, 2026 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Indianola with burial following in the Calvary Cemetery, Churchville, IA. A Rosary will be recited at 1 p.m. Sunday, March 29, 2026 at Overton Funeral Home with the visitation from 1:30 to 4 p.m.
