Marguerite June "Peggy" Luch

MARGUERITE JUNE LUCH
April 7, 1925 ˜ October 2, 2024

Known as Peggy, she was born in Oakland, CA, and died in Vancouver, WA. During WW2, Peggy trained as a welder at the Kaiser Shipyards, and then was employed at Vancouver Barracks Army headquarters keeping officer personnel files.
Married to William Samuel Luch in 1947, they bought an acre and built a house; Peggy landscaped it and kept on gardening, including at the two places, she lived as a widow. Together they toured the country in their RV, wintered in Arizona and California, and took several cruises. Outdoor people always, they hunted and fished, dug clams and foraged for mushrooms. She loved exploring nature and making friends.
Peggy volunteered with multiple handicapped children and spent time aiding seniors with grocery shopping and appointments. After her children left home, she took painting classes in various media.
A member of St. John Lutheran Church, Peggy worked helping translate the Bible into braille. Women's Bible studies were important to her, the last one she attended was at her retirement home.
Bill predeceased Peggy in 2015, after 68 years of marriage. They had three children, Robert “Bob” (Katrina), Diane Swenson (Ted), and Linda Briley (Chuck); five grandchildren (one deceased); and five great-grandchildren. Her love for her family was the greatest pleasure in her life.
Viewing will be at Evergreen Memorial Garden Friday Oct. 11, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Following is a graveside service at 2 p.m. at Venersborg Cemetery, Battle Ground, WA.
