Mari Modaferri

Mari Therese Grom Moda eri, 100, of Neptune, NJ passed away peacefully on Friday, February 13th, 2026. Mari grew up in New York City, New York. After graduating from the prestigious Washington High School in Manhattan she attended business school and worked as a legal secretary for Kemper Insurance. She later married the love of her life, Patrick, and they had five cherished daughters. After moving twice they settled in Rockaway to raise their family. Mari then worked at Macy's in the Rockaway Mall to foster her love of shopping. Mari enjoyed shopping (especially shoes!), watching her favorite granddaughter Angelina perform on stage (and at home), caring for animals (especially our many pets), reading everything (including roadsigns!), solving word puzzles and jigsaw puzzles, sewing (especially matching dresses for all five of her girls without a pattern!), drawing, painting, dancing (especially the Lindy Hop with Patrick), participating in Bible studies and retreats, going on walks, traveling and speaking Slovak and French with her cousin Clara. Above all, her greatest joy was caring for those she loved.

Mari was predeceased by her father Peter, her mother Katherine and her sister Helen.

Mari is survived by her five daughters Kathi and her husband Al, Arlene, Lisa, Diane, MaryAnn and her husband Joey, her four grandchildren Zachary, Harrison, Angelina, Hunter and her cousin Clara. Mari's 100 years of love, kindness and wisdom will

remain a treasured light in our hearts
