Just saw Woman In Gold, and I was moved to tears. Nothing will ever make up for the horrible injustice done to Maria and her family but I´m glad they got a small measure of compensation.

I just read about her life and did not know her but knew the family of her lawyer Shoenberg as CW Post college music department endowed him as their chairman. I read in horror what the gestapo did to him as I have relatives who endured the gestapo. I found out on Ancestry that I am related to Honig, because Jeanette Honig became Bauer and then Bauer of future generations married Bloch, Bauer. May this wonderful woman live in the glory of heaven. So sad to see her die. Marilyn Bloch

A heroine for all time, an authentic inspiration. I am sorry for all Mrs. Altmann was robbed: her family, her friends, her neighbors, her Austria, her world. Yet, in all the unimaginable atrocities and barbarism, Maria Altmann not only survived, she triumphed. I am in awe of the love she never yielded, her fortitude, her endurance and her courage. May God rest your soul Maria V. Altmann, and all your beloved who have left our earthly world. A sheynem dank, thank you very much for being such an extraordinary woman and human being to the fullest of Gods creation.
America was indeed privileged to grant you citizenship in our United States.

SOMEONE SO SPECIAL CAN NEVER BE FORGOTTEN, ITS MARIA'S DETERMINATION, COURAGE AND BRAVERY WE WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER....RIH

I watched the movie today. We who have not experienced the loss of our family in the way Maria did can never truly know how it felt. The recovery of the paints was justice at its best. I'm happy that Maria had the courage to see the process through and enjoy the rewards of her effort. God bless her family!

Dear Peter - Today you have been in my thoughts. I went to the computer to see if I could find you like I did before. My previous computer crashed and I lost all the emails. There are no coincidences that it was this day. My deep sympathy to you and your family upon the loss of your mother. Many prayers and blessings to you all.
Love, Christine from Minnesota

Please accept my sympathy for your loss. May the hope of seeing Ms. Maria again sustain you. The Holy Scriptures promise: "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyesa and death will be no more, neither mourning nor outcry anymore, the former things have passed away.

I had a Jewish Grandmother that I really adored, she told me a lot about what happened with Nazi, she said it was terrible. My grandmother passed away a lont time ago but I look forward to see her in the ressurection. Isa. 25:8,9 is very encouraging to read, it will give you and your family comfort. JC-Hemet

Mrs. Maria Altmann gave me a gift on the day of her argument before the Supreme Court of the United States. Our time together was not long, but sufficient for me to receive the gift of her calmness and warmth.

"A fearless fighter of justice." Is this not the pinnacle of living a life in full measure? What an extraordinary woman, what a beautiful soul. Your story has touched me deeply......a testimony to the fact that love never dies. Thank you for gracing this planet, and thank you for showing us all that one must stand up for their beliefs, and, at times, push back very hard in speaking the truth to power. My husband and I built our romance from a simple greeting card that had a picture of "The Kiss," by the same artist, on it. A woman of substance, you are a soaring, joyous, spirit now.

Maria was a frequent dinner guest of my late mother, Lily. Mother provided the most delicious Austrian dishes, but Maria, with her charm and intelligent conversation, provided the sparkle. That generation is going and we will always remember them as true survivors.
