Maria Batista Obituary
Born in Lourinha, Portugal, Maria emigrated to the United States in 1971, settling in Newark prior to calling Carteret her home for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister who will be deeply missed.
Maria was predeceased by her husband in 2021, Maximino Batista along with her parents, Artur and Maria Batista. Surviving are her children, Aderito Batista with his wife Sandra, Dina Batista with her husband Leandro Ambos; grandchildren, Jeffrey, Skyler, Joey and Amanda; great grandchildren, Mason and Jacob; her brother, Joao Batista with his wife Maria Jose along with loving nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Funeral services will begin at 9am on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, from GERITY & CHUBENKO FUNERAL HOME, 411 Amboy Avenue, Woodbridge followed by a 10:30am Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church in Elizabeth. Entombment will follow at St. Gertrude Cemetery in Colonia.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 8, 2025, from 6pm to 8pm at the funeral home.
