Maria L. Consuegra

Maria Luisa (Garcia) Consuegra, 80, beloved wife of the late Eduardo I. Consuegra, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2023. Born in Havana, Cuba, daughter of the late Heriberto and Petra Garcia, she came to the United States in 1960 following the Cuban Revolution. In 1964, she and her late husband were married in the Church of Saint Ann and held their wedding reception at the Avon Old Farms School. She has lived in Avon since 1974. Maria had a successful 30 year career at Aetna Insurance before joining Mass Mutual, retiring as a Director in 2008. She was a communicant and active participant of the Church of Saint Ann where she attended Mass daily, followed by coffee with her cherished group of friends from church. She was a fifty-year member of the Golf Club of Avon and the Avon Garden Club. She enjoyed traveling with her many good friends, particularly to Europe with her dear friend Dianne Sujat. She leaves two nephews and two nieces; Jorge, Andy, Ana and Julie; several grand nieces and nephews; and her sister- in- law, Miriam. Her family will receive friends Sunday, January 22, 2023, from 2-4 PM at the Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, 301 Country Club Road, Avon. Family and friends may gather Monday 9:15 AM at Carmon's followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM at the Church of Saint Ann, 289 Arch Road, Avon. Burial will follow in St Ann Cemetery next to her husband Eduardo. Maria wished for everyone to gather with her family for a luncheon after the burial.
