Maria Del Carmen Galan Lopez Obituary

María Ángela del Carmen Galán López, 83, was born in Suchitoto, El Salvador on March 25, 1942. She died in peace in the arms of her savior, Jesus Christ, on November 8, 2025, in Houston, Texas.
María Ángela was a wife, mother of eight children, and grandmother, whose faith and generosity defined her life. A devout Catholic, she prayed the rosary daily and helped others without expecting anything in return.
In her homeland, El Salvador, she was trained and employed as a nurse. In 1968, she made her way to New York and Washington DC, where she worked as a housekeeper and nanny. When the Salvadoran civil war broke out in the 1980s, she continued her life of service as a volunteer and fundraiser for the Catholic Church in Mexico and California before eventually making a home in Texas. She was a pionera, the first in her family to immigrate to the United States, paving the way for generations to come.
She married Antonio Galán in 1962, and together they raised eight children: Walter, Wilfredo, Carolina, María, Morena, Mirna, Francisca, and Mirella. She found joy in traveling to Italy and Germany, cooking her favorite Salvadoran dishes-especially pupusas, fried plantains, and fried yucca-savoring a good cup of coffee, sewing ponchos and garments for her family, watching telenovelas and international news (particularly updates from the Vatican), and doting on her cherished cats.
She is survived by her sister Antonia, seven of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
