I had the blessing of meeting my Thea Maria when I was about 10 years old. My memories of her even at that age were that she had the sweetest smile. All she did was smile! This was special because even at that age I recognized that on my side of the family we had some real grumpy folks. I got to meet her lovely parents and siblings. All of them awesome, happy, kind, good people. I never sensed anything from them other than simple goodness. As I became a teenager and beyond my Thea Maria was a source of boundless kindness whose presence I cherished. When it was time for me to graduate from the NYPD Police Academy I couldn't imagine my Thea Maria not being there right next to my Mom. She was so proud of me and as always her smile brought me happiness. Who are these people who are so kind? My best guess is that her parents were special, blessed and had the most warm wonderful children. How awesome is that! Thea Maria you were taken from us only temporally because in our religion we believe that we will be with each other again someday. You are with our Lord looking down at us and we are crying. I can hear you now telling me not to be sad but I love you very much and the thought of you no longer being with Uncle George breaks my heart. We will laugh again someday my dear Thea. I love you.
