Maria Nieves Sanchez Dones, 91, of Troy, formerly of Arroyo, Puerto Rico, peacefully entered into eternal life surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, NY.
Born and educated in Arroyo, PR, she was the daughter of the late Domingo Sanchez and the late Rita Dones and was the beloved wife to the Carmelo Lind Sanchez who passed away on September 4, 2010.
Maria enjoyed making jokes and especially loved helping people in need. She loved cooking and everyone loved the food which she preparer.
Devoted mother of 7 children; Obdulia, Liduvina, Carmelo, Jose A., Wilma and Herbie Lind and Jose L. Narvaez, cherished grandmother of 7 grandkids, sister of Minita Sanchez,Johnny Sanchez and Roberto Sanchez, also survived by several nieces and nephews and their families.
Relatives and friends are invited to Calling Hours and the Prayer Service at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home, Inc., 565 Fourth Avenue (at the corner of 115th Street in Lansingburgh) Troy, NY 12182 on Friday, February 27, 2026 from 12 Noon to 2:00 p.m.
Burial will be held in Cementerio Municipal de Arroyo, Arroyo, PR
