Maria Guerrero Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes - Laingsburg Chapel from Jan. 11 to Jan. 19, 2026.
Maria L. Guerrero was born on April 27th, 1929 in Laredo, TX and passed away on January 8th, 2026 in Lansing, MI. She lived to be 96 years old. We can only imagine she is with her husband Daniel Guerrero Sr. in heaven leaping with joy before the Lord. Maria was a tough little lady, only about 4 foot tall, and was always able to beat any illness. She used to say, "I'm a survivor". Just before turning 90 years old, she was diagnosed with Metabolic Dementia. As much as she wanted to still live in her home, there were too many new challenges and it was not possible anymore. Maria's only son, Daniel Jr, and daughter-in-law Jamie, brought her into their home to care for her for the last almost 6 years of her life. Maria lived with her son Daniel Jr., his wife Jamie, and her four grandsons; Noah, Jonah, Joshua, and Isiah. Many good memories were made with Maria over the last 6 years, even with dementia. She attended many school activities, went camping, boating, went to parades and festivals, and loved to sit by the lake. Just prior to Maria passing, she seemed to be looking up at someone, her son believes she was being readied to be with the Lord. Maria passed away on a sunny day, with all the window shades open, resting peacefully in her chair. Maria took her nap, but did not wake up here. We will all miss her dearly.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family service will be observed.
