It is with great sadness that the family of Maria Elena "Nena" Licon announces the passing of their sister, "Nena" at the young age of 62. Nena was born on April 5, 1963, to Pedro H. Licon and Raquel T. Licon in Lubbock, Texas. She passed from this life on October 28, 2025, surrounded by her loving family, Alma, Robert, Gloria, Savanna, Lucy, Anna and Natalie.
Nena was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Pedro and Raquel, as week as her brother Pedro Licon, Jr. and Tomas Licon. Those left to cherish her memory are her siblings, Gloria Licon Luera, Alma Licon Carrillo and Robert Licon, all of Lubbock, Texas and her beloved longhair chihuahua, Ozzy. Ozzy was her baby and he adored her. When Nena moved into the nursing home, he cried for her and would sit by the window waiting for her return. Ozzy is lovingly cared for by her sister, Alma.
Nena was baptized as a catholic and her belief in God and Jesus Christ gave her the strength to make the decision to stop dialysis, she was ready to go home to be with God.
Maria will forever be remembered for her love of music and dancing. She was the life of the party. Her laughter was loud and infectious she made everyone laugh. She had a loving heart: everyone she met was her friend or sister. Her family was her greatest love, and she was very protective of them. She was a great cook, and her homemade tortilla were everyone's favorite. She loved participating in family gatherings, and her best friend was her brother Robert. When they were together everyone laughed even our dad.
The end of her life on Earth has come for our beloved sister. She is now resting peacefully, and pain free, no longer experiencing suffering and sickness. She will be missed. WE LOVE YOU SISTER!
There are no services planned for Maria, as she requested to be cremated and have her urn buried next to our parents. Cremation services are under the direction of House of Angels Funeral Home, Lubbock, Texas.
