Obituary
Maria "Socorro" Lungren
April 28, 1948- August 14, 2024
Maria Socorro Lungren, 76, lovingly known as Socorro, passed away unexpectedly at the Washakie Medical Center in Worland, Wyoming, on August 14, 2024, with her devoted husband by her side.
Born on April 28, 1948, in La Laguna, Chihuahua, Mexico, Socorro was the beloved daughter of Ramón Mendoza and Elvira Gonzalez. She grew up surrounded by the beauty of her homeland and a deep sense of family.
Socorro moved to Los Angeles, California, in 1970, seeking new opportunities. However, her love for Mexico called her back in 1975, where she became a dedicated teacher for 6th to 8th graders.
In 1985, Socorro and her family moved to Worland, Wyoming, looking for a fresh start. It was there that she met Lloyd Lungren through friends, and quickly fell in love. They married a year later, building a life together filled with love and adventure.
Socorro worked at the Elks Club and then spent 12 years as a CNA at the Worland nursing home, where her compassion and dedication shone through. She had a natural talent for drawing, quilting, and crocheting, and she loved sharing her creations with everyone. Each gift she gave was a little piece of her heart.
Gardening was another of Socorro's passions. She took great joy in tending her flowers and cooking meals for her family. Her home was always warm and welcoming, and she loved making sure that Lloyd had a hot meal after a long day. She was known for her generous spirit, often giving whatever she had to her grandchildren and always spoiling them saying, "Go get 'em a pop," no matter their age.
Socorro and Lloyd shared many happy moments fishing, camping, and enjoying time at the cabin with their children. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who always put her family first.
Her heart was big, and her kindness knew no bounds. Socorro's memory will live on through the love she gave, the beautiful things she made, and the countless lives she touched.
Socorro was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Jannet.
She is survived by her loving husband, Lloyd; daughters, Linda (Ray) Juarez of Round Lake, Illinois, Primavera (Victor) Coria of Denver, Colorado and Adriana Lungren of Denver, Colorado; sons, Aaron Mendoza of Chicago, Illinois and Edgar Mendoza of Worland; brother, Victor Mendoza; sisters, Elizabeth Gonzalez, Emma (Marcelo) Amaro, Elvia Mendoza and Irma (Jesus) Gonzalez all of Chihuahua, Mexico; grandchildren: Anthony Juarez, Alejandro Juarez, Maya, Santiago, Jose (Miranda) Araiza, Daniel (Raquel) Araiza, Marcuz Araiza, Eliza Sofia Campos, Cristabel (Carlos) Campos, Idallely and Brandon; great-grandchildren: Sebastian, Elly, Daniel, Santiago and Dalyza.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 AM Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at CrossPoint Baptist Church with Dr. Fred Smith officiating. A visitation will be held 6:00 PM, Monday August 19, 2024 at the Bryant Funeral Home Chapel and an hour prior to services at the church. Memorial donations may be made to help assist funeral costs. Socorro was such a wonderful loving wife to my brother Lloyd Jr.! She also loved my husband and I along with our children, always asking about them and enjoyed any news concerning their lives!
She always greeted us with a kiss and a sweet meaningful hug. Oh my she will be missed, but her children are just as loving and kind as she and Lloyd have taught them they are surely an extention we will adore seeing and spending time with when our paths meet in the future.
Love, Gregg and Victoria Olson
