Maria Martinez, age 92, of Sweetwater, Texas, passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025, at Hendrick Hospice Care Center surrounded by her family.
Her wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, November 8, 2025 at Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Javier Almonte officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Maria was born on April 6, 1933 in Sweetwater, Texas to Reyes and Rosa (Meneses) Torrez. She married Pascual Martinez, Jr. on July 16, 1951, in Sweetwater, Texas. She worked as a seamstress for Walls Industries for many years and later worked in the cafeteria at SISD before retiring. She was a longtime member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses. She loved reading, playing on her IPad, puzzles, and working in her garden. She also liked getting her nails done and playing with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother.
She is survived by her sons, Pat Martinez, Kris Warner and wife Chrisi, and Tommy Warner and wife Veronica; daughters, Lilly Buff and husband Lenny, Sabrina Henington and husband Stephen, Liza Tilley and husband James, and Bianca Carrell and husband Don; fourteen grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; brothers, Ezekiel Hernandez and wife Julia and Ricardo Hernandez and wife Lupe; sisters, Amelia Hernandez and Victoria Figueroa and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents also by Augustina Torrez Hernandez; husband, Pascual Martinez, Jr.; son, Robert Martinez, granddaughters, Jamie Warner and Heather Warner; grandson, Zachary Ballenger; great granddaughter, Ellie Carrell, sisters, Estella Amable and Carolina Hernandez, and brother, Joe Hernandez.
