June 28, 1947 - August 7, 2025
Our incredible Maria - loving wife, mother, and grandmother - took her final breath surrounded by her family on Thursday, August 7th. She was 78 years old.
Maria is survived by her devoted husband of 54 years, Jorge Mendez; loving daughters, Sandra and Noemi; adoring son, Victor (Kara); cherished grandchildren, Giovanni and Milania; brothers, Johnnie and Pedro; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
She is received into heaven by her parents, Felix and Senaida Chavez; her brothers, Fidel and Antonio; and her sisters, Eva and Chavela.
A native of Edinburg, Hidalgo County, Texas, Maria was a beloved Sonoma County resident for over 75 years. She grew up in Graton and later made her home in Santa Rosa, where she and Jorge raised their three children. Maria dedicated 43 years of service to State Farm Insurance in Rohnert Park, before retiring.
Maria devoted her entire adult life to her family. She will be remembered for her unwavering love for her husband, children, and grandchildren; her amazing cooking; her strong work ethic; her beautiful garden; and her generous, caring heart.
You are invited to join her family in honoring her life.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 15th at 5:00 PM with the Rosary at 6:00 PM at Parent-Sorensen Mortuary in Sebastopol. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 16th, at 10:00 AM at St. Sebastian's Church in Sebastopol, followed by graveside services and a celebration of life.
Maria's unexpected passing has left a profound void in the hearts of her loved ones. Her generous spirit, warmth, and unwavering love will be missed beyond measure.

I worked with Maria at State Farm in Santa Rosa &
Rohnert Park until I retired in 1999. Always a hello, always a smile. A sweet sweet lady. She will be greatly missed by her family & co-workers. Rest in peace Maria.
