Maria Reis, age 89, of East Brunswick, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 22, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Portugal, Maria eventually made her home in East Brunswick, where she lived for many years. She devoted over 34 years of her life as a patient care technician at JFK Hospital, where her compassion and dedication touched the lives of countless patients and coworkers.

Maria's deep kindness and natural instinct to help others defined who she was-always ready to lend a hand to anyone in need. She was a true Good Samaritan to many across Newark and throughout New Jersey.

Maria's love for her family was the center of her world. Her cooking was legendary, a symbol of her care and generosity, bringing comfort and joy to all who gathered at her table. She was the heart of her family-a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, partner, and dear friend. Her warmth, strength, and unwavering love will be remembered always.

She was predeceased by her parents, Adelino Reis and Maria Dos Anjos Carlos. Maria is survived by her beloved partner of over 40 years, Jeronimo Albuquerque; her children: Eddy Marie Goncalves, Jack Pereira and his wife Donna, and Isaura Pereira; her cherished grandchildren: Nicole DiGenaro,Tiffani Pereira, Ryan Pereira, and Antonio S. Gomes; and her adored great-grandchildren: Arianna Santos, Lucas Santos, Sonia Gomes, and Raul Gomes. She is also survived by her brother, Abilio Reis, along with many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever hold her memory in their hearts.

Calling hours will take place on Monday at the Maliszewski Funeral Home, 218 Whitehead Ave, South River from 5pm to 9pm. A funeral mass will be held at St. Bartholomew Church in East Brunswick on Tuesday at 9:30am. A burial will follow at Chestnut Hill Cemetery in East Brunswick. Maria Reis, de 89 anos, de East Brunswick, faleceu tranquilamente em casa na sexta-feira, 22 de agosto de 2025, rodeada pela sua família. Nascida em Portugal, Maria acabou por se estabelecer em East Brunswick, onde viveu durante muitos anos. Dedicou mais de 34 anos da sua vida como técnica de atendimento ao paciente no Hospital JFK, onde a sua compaixão e dedicação tocaram a vida de inúmeros pacientes e colegas de trabalho.

A profunda bondade de Maria e o seu instinto natural para ajudar os outros definiam-na - sempre pronta a ajudar quem precisasse. Era uma verdadeira boa samaritana para muitos em Newark e em New Jersey.

O amor de Maria pela família era o centro do seu mundo. A sua gastronomia era lendária, símbolo do seu cuidado e generosidade, trazendo conforto e alegria a todos os que se juntavam à sua mesa. Era o coração da família - uma mãe, avó, bisavó, irmã, tia, companheira e amiga querida dedicada. O seu calor, força e amor inabalável serão sempre recordados.

Foi precedida na morte pelos seus pais, Adelino Reis e Maria dos Anjos Carlos. Maria deixa o seu amado companheiro de mais de 40 anos, Jerómino Albuquerque; seus filhos: Eddy Marie Gonçalves, Jack Pereira e esposa Donna, e Isaura Pereira; os seus queridos netos: Nicole DiGenaro,Tiffani Pereira, Ryan Pereira e Antonio S. Gomes; e os seus adorados bisnetos: Arianna Santos, Lucas Santos, Sonia Gomes e Raul Gomes. Deixa ainda o irmão, Abílio Reis, bem como muitos sobrinhos, sobrinhas, familiares e amigos que guardarão a sua memória para sempre no seu coração.

O velório será realizado na segunda-feira na Agência Funerária Maliszewski, situada na Avenida Whitehead, 218, South River, das 17h00 às 21h00. A missa exequial será realizada na Igreja de São Bartolomeu, em East Brunswick, na terça-feira, às 9h30. O funeral será realizado no Cemitério de Chestnut Hill, em East Brunswick.
