María Dueñas Rivera
March 21, 1943 – April 25, 2025
María Dueñas Rivera, a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and proud great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was 82 years old.
Born on March 21, 1943, in Loreto, Zacatecas, México, to Rafael Dueñas and Leonor Rosales Dueñas, María was raised in Pharr, Texas, where she grew up with strong faith and deep family roots. Her life was marked by devotion - first and foremost to God and her Catholic faith. A true "rosary warrior," María found strength, peace, and perseverance through her daily prayers, placing her trust always in the Blessed Mother.
María is survived by her beloved husband, Jose Luis Rivera; son Eduardo Rivera, his wife Edilia, and their daughter Mónica; Alberto Rivera and his children Alberto Rivera Jr., (Shelby) Nicholas Rivera (Carlin), Angel Rivera, Amanda Rivera, and Christian Morones; Norma Matheson, her husband David, and their children Isabel Miller (Gabriel), and Daniel and Sara Matheson; and Alejandro Rivera and his son Enrique Rivera; and her siblings, Alfredo Dueñas, Esperanza Dueñas Cabello, and Ruben Dueñas.
María was also blessed to welcome great-grandchildren Carlos and Noah Miller, the children of Isabel and Gabriel, and Aurora Rain Rivera, child of Alberto and Shelby Rivera, Jr.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Rafael and Leonor.
María's legacy of faith, love, and perseverance will live on through her family and all who were touched by her prayers and kindness. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
María will be interred at South Park Cemetery in Pearland on April 30,
