Maria Guadalupe Saenz

Maria was born on July 15, 1981, to Victoria De Leon and the late Juan B. De Leon in Hondo, Texas. She was the mother of Daymien Saenz and the late Julia Lynn Smith.

Maria was known for her courage, strength, and generous kindness. She was selfless in her love for others, generously opening her heart and home to raise children who were not her own. She lovingly raised Braydon Saenz and Jett Saenz, pouring into their lives with the same devotion and care she gave to all she cherished. She loved expressing her creativity, often bedazzling everyday objects, and transforming them into pieces of art. Her son, Daymien Saenz, grandchildren, Jilayah Saenz and Dilayzah Saenz, and husband, Fransisco Alvarez brought her the greatest joy in life. She was a fighter and never gave up. She fought this lifelong health battle until the very end.

She is survived by her son, Daymien Saenz (Jewels Knowles); her two grandchildren and her husband, Franciso Alvarez. She is also survived by her mother, Victoria De Leon, and her brother, Orlando De Leon (Esperanza). She is preceded in death by her father, Juan B. De Leon and daughter Julia Lynn Smith.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at Hondo Funeral Home from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at Hondo Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m., followed by interment at Hondo Cemetery.
