My name is Chris Cyza. I live in Omaha, NE. My wife Gina and I were at the 9/11 Memorial mid March of 2015. 6 mos. prior my wife was diagnosed with metastatic pancreatic cancer. She had always wanted to see NYC in person and against all odds we made it. She passed on 5/22/15. I hold onto the memories of that trip closely.
We had a wonderful time for four days without thinking about cancer.

I took a photo of her standing by the footprint of one of the towers on that trip. 3 years later our oldest daughter stood at that same spot and had her picture taken. This year on 9/11/20, I decided to figure out if I could put together any of the names inscribed on the memorial. Judy's name was the first one that revealed itself.

Yesterday, watching the footage of 9/11 brought back a lot of emotion. And, seeing the area around the memorial where Gina and I spent some of our last days together brought back a lot for me too.

I just want you to know that even so far away from NYC, it is never forgotten how much pain and hurt for so many people happened on that day. From the little I have read about Judy, she was a wonderful person. I am so sorry for your loss.

Hello. My name is Taylor and I am from Boston, MA. Today I visited the memorial and the new 9/11 museum. Before I walked into the museum, we went over to the waterfall to see it for the first time and the first name I saw when I walked over to it was Maria's. I didn't look much at any other names. After that, we walked into the museum and they had a projecter displaying the "missing persons" posters that were hung as soon as you walked in and amazingly, Maria's missing persons poster was the first one I saw! I couldn't believe it. I told my mom "I just saw her name outside, it was the first one I seen and now here is her poster, the first one I seen also" .. If that's not amazing enough, they had a huge blanket displaying every face and name on it and again, I spotted Maria right away! I was like "Wow.. And again. There she is." My mom kept telling me it was "fate" and I was meant to experience that for a reason and I was meant to "meet her here." I just talked to Maria in my head and thanked her and told her I was grateful for what had happened there today and how I am glad it was her.. I know I do not know her but I am just amazed. God bless Maria's friends and family and Maria, I hope you are resting peacefully beautiful. Thank you.

I did not know Maria Santillan, but today (September 11th) a local radio station was giving out American flags. On each flag was the name of a victim of September 11th, I recieved a flag with Maria's name. To her family and friends I would like to express my condolences. My thoughts and prayers will be with you today and always.

ANGEL

With an angel over you,

Who watches all that you do,

She whispers in your ear,

Words you can not hear,

She holds you close in the night,

Although you can not feel her hold

you tight,

Blowing kisses as she flies away,

Knowing in your heart is where she

will always stay.

I knew Maria since junior high. We sat at the same lunch table and next to each other during a few classes. She was one of the sweetest, warmest, and most sincere people I knew. Although we lost touch after graduation, I often thought about her and wondered how she was doing. I was fortunate enough to run into her at a pet store a few years ago; we were both buying fish. We chatted for a few minutes and then said goodbye. I never imagined it would be the last time I would ever see her. But I'm so grateful I had the chance to see her again after all of those years because it reminded me just how AWESOME of a person she was. I still think about her every single day. Maria will forever be in my thoughts and prayers. My heart goes out to her family and everyone else who loved her.

Maria Theresa, known to us as "Maritess," was a truly wonderful person and a great friend. She was always there with us on all of our joyous occasions. Maritess was the light of any party.

The last time we saw and spoke to Maritess was on September 8, 2001. She was at our baby shower. After the shower, as usual, we all headed down to Atlantic City, one of our favorite hang outs. It would be the last time we saw Maritess.

There is not a day that goes by that we do not think of her or tell our son a story about his "Tita Tess". We have so many good memories to share with Erik Douglas... we just wish she was still here to tell him herself.

We miss you dearly... Ruane, Erik and Erik D. Narvaez.

America Cries

We see your sorrow-

and our hearts cry....

We can not erase your pain

but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-

-the American people-

are beside you.

We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,

the strength that gives you courage,

and the words to lighten your spirits.

And when we are left speechless

may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts

to ease your sorrow.

May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-

-the American people-

face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
