Maria B. Schmid

Maria B. (Wulle) Schmid, 105, of Emmaus, PA passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026.

Born in Nehren, Germany on November 9, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Emma Wulle. She arrived in the United States with her family in 1929, initially living in Nashville, TN and later moving to NY. She was a longtime employee of Phoebe Floral in Allentown. She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Allentown.

Maria was a passionate gardener, enjoying fresh vegetables from her garden and nurturing both indoor and outdoor plants. She loved caring for her home and spending time in her kitchen, especially baking cookies. When asked about the secret to her longevity, she would say it was eating healthy and staying active. A loving and devoted mother and grandmother, she will be missed by family, caring neighbors and friends.

Maria is survived by her daughter, Gloria E. Schmid of Hanover, MA; granddaughter, Shannon M. Hignite of Garner, NC and nieces, Carol Edelstein of Ridge, NY and Helen Nordvall of Trumbull, CT. She was predeceased by son, Richard P. Schmid; daughter, Barbara M. Schmid; granddaughter, Jennifer “Jenny” M. Hignite and brother, Kurt Wulle.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at 10:30 AM in Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., 250 Main Street, Emmaus, PA 18049. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Macungie. Schantz Funeral Home, P.C., Emmaus is handling arrangements.
