Maria A. (Uranga) Siems

Maria A. (Uranga) Siems, 66, of Los Lunas, N.M., passed away peacefully at home on November 26, 2025, surrounded by family. She was born in Denver City, Texas on October 21, 1959, to the late Armando Uranga Sr. and Maria Elena Uranga.

Maria was raised in El Paso, Texas. Over the years, she also spent time living in Connecticut. She was rich in spirit, resilience, and adventure. Maria was a hard worker in every sense-determined, spunky, and unafraid to do whatever needed to be done. A woman of extraordinary strength, she faced even the most difficult times with a quiet courage we can all be inspired by. Her heart was generous, and her spirit unbreakable.

Maria carried the soul of a '70s wildflower child-yet she always remained classy, stylish, and effortlessly put together. She loved riding on the motorcycle with her devoted spouse, Craig of ten years, traveling, camping, and treating herself to a good shopping day.

She was the proudest of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandson. In February 2022, she proudly became patched into the Auxiliary of the Combat Veteran's Motorcycle Association, chapter 47-3, where she found camaraderie, purpose, and a community that matched her spirit.

In her later years, Maria discovered comfort and joy in knitting, a hobby she picked up with a dear friend-creating pieces woven with patience, love, and laughter. Maria will be forever loved and remembered not only for the struggles she overcame, but for the memories she created with the warmth she shared, the lessons she taught, and the unwavering love she gave, no matter what life brought her. May her memory be a blessing and may those who loved her find peace in knowing that her strength, spirit, and love live on in every life she touched. May her journey continue with freedom, beauty, and the wild spirit she carried throughout her life.

Maria is survived by her spouse, Craig Siems of Fremont, Neb.; mother, Maria Elena Uranga of El Paso, Texas; children, Evelyn Chasco of Rocky Hill, Conn., Erica Concepcion of Austin, Texas, Michael Abreu of San Antonio, Texas; grandchildren, Faith Chasco-DiMauro, Savannah Chasco-Dimauro, James Chasco-Dimauro all of Rocky Hill, Conn., Nevaeh Martinez, Erick Martinez of Austin, Texas area, and Penelope Abreu of San Antonio, Texas area; great-grandson, Ezra Maynard of Austin, Texas; siblings, Antonio Rubio (Lydia) Armando Uranga II (Lupe), Joe Uranga (Elena), and Margarita Estrada all of El Paso, Texas; as well as many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her nephew, Armando Uranga III.

A memorial service will be held Monday, December 15, 2025, 11 a.m., at FRENCH – University, 1111 University Blvd. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87102. A celebration of life will follow at 12:30 p.m. at American Legion Post 85, 3474A NM-47, Los Lunas, NM 87031.
