Dear Rose Marie, Our hearts go out to you for your unspeakable loss. We didn't know Maria, but her obituary makes us wish we did. Words help little now, but we hope in the future this poem will bring a little consolation. With deepest condolences.
`Tis a fearful thing
to love what death can touch.
A fearful thing
to love, to hope, to dream, to be -
to be,
and oh, to lose.
A thing for fools, this, and a holy thing,
a holy thing to love.
For your life has lived in me, your laugh once lifted me, your word was gift to me.
To remember this brings painful joy.
`Tis a human thing, love, a holy thing, to love what death has touched.

Congratulations on the way you captured Maria in this most eloquently written obituary.
My first introduction to Maria was in Mrs. Freeman´s class in 3rd grade at Tesuque Elementary. Her sweet Mom Rose Marie was the librarian. We became fast friends and despite various school changes remained friends through high school.
My fondest memories are of our friendship at Tesuque Elementary & then later in life when she, sister Ninha & I all shared an apartment together while attending UNM.
I am heartbroken. What an amazing beautiful soul gone far too soon. Thank you again for the remarkably accurate obituary. I send my love & deepest condolences to Rose Marie, Ninha, Fritz & Taylor.

She was a special soul who left a warm memory for anyone she met. Prayers and condolences to Maria´s family and friends. Maria, you will be sorely missed and remembered for your beautiful smile.

Maria was truly the most incredible friend I ever had. We spent a wonderful summer and freshman year as best friends! I didn´t see her until I saw her when her husband was at SFHS with my brother. She was so very Special in so many ways. My deepest sympathies to her family. May she truly enjoy the fresh powder and peace in her heart forever! Love you Maria

Maria gifted me this glass pendant when I graduated high school in 2011. I just moved back to NYC and hung it up in my kitchen window because I remember her saying how "it catches light nicely". She was not wrong.
I remember Maria as a colorful human who always caught the sunlight. She was warm, loving, full of humor and she was a great listener. Maria saw me, and now I can think of her when the sun shines in my kitchen window.

My sincere condolences to the family of Maria Christine Simms.
I first met her mother Rose Marie and her husband Fritz when we worked with the Santa Fe Public Schools. Rose Marie always shared fascinating stories and accomplishments of her children.
I'm so sorry for your loss. My prayers and thoughts go to all of you during this difficult time.
