Maria (Doña Mary) Tejeda

Maria Tejeda (Doña Mary) 63, of Reidsville went home to be with the Lord, Monday, March 2, 2026

A Catholic Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Holy Infant Catholic Church, with Father Nohe Torres officiating. The family will receive friends for two hours following the Mass.

Maria was born in Tamazula Jalisco to the late Leobardo Ramos Avalos and Berta Alica Figueroa Soto. She worked as a teacher in the Migrant Education Program for Rockingham County Schools for over 20 years. She was always laughing and joking and loved helping others. She was a strong figure in Reidsville’s Latin community, helping others and using her business, Doña Maria, as a gathering place and hub for connection to her community. Above all, she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

In addition to her parents, Maria was preceded in death by her siblings, Marcela Ramos Figueroa, Leobardo Ramos Figueroa, and Patricia Ramos Figueroa.

She is survived by her husband, Enrique Hernandez Mejia; her son, Juan Tejeda and wife, Jessica Turpin; her daughter, Vanessa Tejeda; her granddaughter, Ximena Lopez; and her siblings, Humberto Ramos Figueroa, Jorge Ramos Figueroa, Daniel Ramos Figueroa and honorary brother Rogelio Rodriguez Ramos.
