Maria "Chavela" Isabel Vasquez, 42, was born on January 3, 1983, in Houston, Texas, and passed away on March 16, 2025, in the town she loved so much. A cherished daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, Maria's warmth and generosity touched the lives of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her vibrant presence, infectious smile, and kind heart will be deeply missed.
Maria’s greatest joy came from her family, friends, and fur babies, and she had an uncanny ability to light up any room with her laughter and radiant spirit. She was a true source of positivity, always uplifting those around her with her genuine nature and playful humor. Whether offering support to her loved ones or sharing a moment of laughter, Maria’s love for life and devotion to her family were unmatched. She took immense pride in her role as an aunt and always made those around her feel special and appreciated.
A dedicated member of her community, Maria spent many years serving those around her. Her hobbies included shopping, cooking, singing, and dancing, and she had a passion for all kinds of music, especially Tejano. Maria had an incredible ability to bring people together and was a bright and shining light in every space she entered.
She leaves behind a loving family that will forever hold her memory dear: her parents, Pedro Vazquez Soto and Gloria Sanchez de Vazquez; her siblings, Teresa Salto (and husband Gregorio Lopez), Martha Salto (and husband Rodolfo Corona), Jose Salto (and wife Maribel), Nadia Sanchez (and husband Miguel Andaya), and Pedro Vazquez; as well as her nieces and nephews, Regino, Diego, Alejandro, Giovanni, Lysha, Yuri, Rodolfo Jr., Luz Clarita, Jose, Chris, Adamarialin, Eduardo, Sofia, and Samirah.
Maria is also survived by her beloved fur babies, Rambo and LD "Lucky Dog," who brought her immense joy. Chavela’s legacy of love, laughter, and light will continue to inspire and be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Maria "Chavela" Isabel Vasquez, de 42 años, nació el 3 de enero de 1983 en Houston, Texas, y falleció el 16 de marzo de 2025 en el pueblo que tanto amaba. Una hija, hermana, tía y amiga querida, la calidez y generosidad de María tocó las vidas de todos los que tuvieron la suerte de conocerla.
