On Thursday, January 1st, 2026 Miriam Louise Schmidt of
Meridian, Idaho went home to be in the loving arms of her Lord and Savior.
Miriam, or Mimi as she preferred, was born in
Wendell, Idaho, to Alta and Frank Davis, and was the youngest of eight children. From an early age, she learned the values of faith, hard work, and caring for others-qualities that shaped her throughout her life. She shared 56 loving years of marriage with her husband, Arlen. Together, they built a home rooted in faith, warmth, hospitality, and love of family and friends. Mimi was a self-employed beautician and cosmetician for 46 years. She owned and operated her salon Mimi's Razor's Edge for thirty years. She was a talented hairdresser who often made deep personal connections just by listening and her love of conversation. Over the years she formed lifelong friendships with many who sat in her chair. Mimi also provided childcare for many families and babysat more than 90 children.
A woman of deep faith, Miriam found joy in reading her bible, listening to sermons and podcasts from her favorite pastors. After church, she would often spend the day cleaning while listening to southern gospel music. Faith guided her actions and generous nature. Mimi made her home a place of warmth, generosity, and welcome. She took great joy in hosting family gatherings with activities like domino's and card games, cheering on Boise State teams, and sharing warm meals together. She treasured moments spent in God's creation and took care of her beautiful garden, its peaceful pond, hanging baskets and gorgeous flowers. Mimi possessed a creative soul and loved crafting, crocheting, quilting, cooking, baking, and decorating. While spending time in the mountains with family, she would enjoy her stay at the family cabin, fishing, camping, and picking huckleberries.
Miriam is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Arlen Schmidt; her three children, Scott, Ginny, and David; and her cherished four grandchildren, Meghan, Jordan, Noah, and Jack; as well as her two great-grandchildren, Emily and Henrik. Though Mimi will be deeply missed, her family finds peace and comfort in the promise of
knowing she is now healed and resting in the presence of the Lord. Her legacy of faith, generosity, hospitality and love will live on in the many lives she touched
