Marian Louise (Rutter) Reck, 83, of Graystone Manner, Huntingdon, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, surrounded by family, friends and loving staff at Graystone Manor. Marian was in failing health for several years. She was born August 30, 1941, in Shirleysburg, daughter of the late Robert Z. and Anna (Garver) Rutter. Marian resided in Hill Valley, Mount Union all her life except for the last 2.5 years when she moved into Assisted Living at Graystone Manor, Huntingdon. She married Norman William “Bill” Reck on January 2, 1962, in Hagerstown, MD. He preceded her in death on June 5, 2010. She is survived by one child, Cheryl Ann (Reck) Johns and husband, Rob, of Huntingdon. She is survived by 2 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Ashley Marie Winegardner and husband, James, of Alexandria along with three great grandsons, Gavin, Colin, and Maddox and Tyler William Johns and wife, Jamie of Alexandria with two great grandchildren, Matthew and Hannah. She is survived by a sister, Linda Peterson and husband Donald of Shirleysburg and a brother, Larry Rutter and wife Vicki of Clermont, FL. Also, she is survived by a sister-in-law, Linda Reck of Mount Union and brother-in-law, Dave Reck and wife Pat of Mount Union. She was preceded in death by sister-in-law Joyce “Jo” Reck of Mount Union. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Marian was a graduate of Orbisonia High School—class of 1958, being Valedictorian of her class. She was employed by the Southern Huntingdon School District as the Superintendent’s Secretary from 1959 to 1986, upon retirement. She was recognized and received several awards from the School District during her tenure working. She was a faithful member of the Sugar Run Church of the Brethren in Shirleysburg. Marian enjoyed spending time at Rob and Cheryl’s house playing BINGO, working on crossword puzzles and especially sending out special cards to those she loved. Her biggest joy was spending time with all the grandkids and great grandkids. Marian loved her New York Yankees and always enjoyed watching them on game days. Family and friends will be received on Sunday April 13, 2025, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held on Monday April 14, 2025, at 10 a.m. at the Sugar Run Church of the Brethren, 17193 Hill Valley Rd, Shirleysburg, PA 17260, Pastor Jonathan Whitsel and Pastor Beverly Skopic, officiants. A private graveside will be held later at Haven Rest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers those who wish may make memorial contributions to the Sugar Run Church of the Brethren or the Presbyterian Church of Mount Union, 2 E. Shirley Street, Mount Union, PA 17066 or Graystone Manor Assisted Living Facility c/o Social Services/Activities Director, 6641 Towne Center Blvd Huntingdon, PA 16652.
