Marie Andreenne Claude, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and matriarch, passed away peacefully at her home on the morning of Monday, July 21, 2025, surrounded by her loving family after a long illness. She was 78 years old.

Marie was born in Léogâne, Haiti, to Racine Ramfort and Lina Guerrier. From their union came six children: Virginie, Toleme, Marie Andreenne, Andrerose, Placide, and Raymonde. Still in grade school, Marie endured the devastating loss of her father, a turning point that plunged the family into hardship. Out of necessity, she relocated to Port-au-Prince to live with Mrs. Laure Breau, an extended family member-a move that marked the beginning of a life shaped by quiet strength, resilience, and determination.

In Port-au-Prince, Marie pursued a sewing apprenticeship and quickly blossomed into a skilled seamstress. Her quick hands, eager mind, and kind spirit soon caught the attention of a charming young man who lived near the Bon Samaritan guesthouse on Boulevard Jean-Jacques Dessalines, where she was resided. That man was Ferrius Claude-the one who would become the love of her life and her devoted husband.

Though Marie and Ferrius had two biological children together, Marie's heart was big enough to embrace eleven. With grace, humility, and quiet strength, she welcomed the other nine children her late husband fathered with other women, never once drawing a line between blood and belonging. She treated each of them as her own-with unwavering love, respect, and open arms. In her presence, they felt not only accepted but profoundly cherished. To this day, those children speak of her with reverence, gratitude, and abiding affection.

In 1994, at the age of 48, Marie made the courageous decision to leave Haiti in search of a better life for her children. Arriving in the United States without knowing English and without a job, she carried only her deep faith and unwavering hope that her children would have brighter opportunities. Her sacrifice was immense, and her determination never wavered. Though she could be strict, her discipline came from a place of love and a desire to see her family thrive.

Marie Andreenne Claude was a woman of deep faith, strong values, and quiet wisdom. Her children looked to her for guidance, strength, and unconditional support. She was loving yet firm, always instilling the importance of education, hard work, and unity. As a wife, she was the steady pillar beside her husband Ferrius. Together, they weathered life's storms and celebrated its joys, building a home rooted in love and perseverance. After settling in the United States, Marie played a vital role in helping her children adapt to a new life. She was ready to land a helping hand, making sure they can navigate life's challenges with confidence and hope. Marie was a hands-on grandmother-always ready to babysit, offer parenting advice, or simply a listen ear. She was always just a phone call away: steady, dependable, and full of love. She had spent countless hours not only caring for her own grandchildren but also nurturing the children of her children's friends. Many of them came to see her as a grandmother too, a reflection of her generous spirit and the deep love she radiated. She welcomed new daughters- and sons-in-law, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with open arms and a warm heart.

To the outside world, Marie's life may have seemed simple. But to those who knew her, she was extraordinary. Her pride in her family was boundless, and her quiet strength left a lasting mark on all who loved her. Marie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ferrius Claude; her daughter, Olguine; and her siblings Virginie, Andrerose, and Placide. She is survived by her children: Fequiere, Phenol, Yslande, Rusyenne, Muriel, Windy, Eddy, Saindy, Fedner, and Nathanael. She is also survived by her siblings Toleme and Raymonde; her grandchildren Nadine, Chelcie, Clifford, Nelson, and Isabelle; and her great-grandchildren Demetry and Anabelle.
