Marie S. Claypoole

Marie S. Claypoole, 79, Plum, on Monday, Nov. 3, 2025. Beloved wife of the late Richard P. Claypoole; mother of Lisa (Joe) Marcelli and Rick (Kathy) Claypoole; grandmother of Matthew, Madeline, Annabelle, and Willem; sister of Joseph (Karen) Sprumont and Lorraine (Doug) Menk; also survived by five nieces and nephews. Originally from New Kensington, Marie was a graduate of Penn State University. She was retired from the Plum Boro School District, where she worked as a teacher for 30 years. A devoted member of her churches over the years, she was a cantor and sang in the choir since she was a young girl. She enjoyed quilting, scrapbooking, and traveling. Her kind heart, sweet voice, and loving smile will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2025, at SOXMAN FUNERAL HOMES LTD., 7450 Saltsburg Road (at Universal Road), Penn Hills. Mass of Christian Burial will be at noon, Friday, Nov. 7, 2025, in Our Lady of Joy Church of Holy Family Parish. Interment in Plum Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers and to honor Marie's charitable nature, memorial contributions may be made to Animal Protectors of Allegheny Valley, 730 Church St., New Kensington, PA 15068.
