Marie Josephine (Martell) Colosimo passed away at the Oosterman Rest Home in Melrose on May 7, 2019. She was 87 years of age. Marie was born in Cambridge on June 7, 1931 to the late Amabel & Catherine (Martel) Martell. Marie was raised in Cambridge, attended Cambridge High & Latin and lived in Cambridge until 1980. Mrs. Colosimo lived in Medford for a few years, several years in Tewksbury and the past 7 years in Melrose. Marie was a dedicated homemaker to her husband and five children who cherished all the times she spent with her family. She was so proud of her grandchildren, enjoyed going to all her grandchildren's events and was so happy when her great granddaughter Celina Rae was born. Mrs. Colosimo had a strong Catholic faith, was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Church in Cambridge and would recite the rosary every day. She liked taking trips up the Maine Coast, doing word search puzzles, watching golf on TV and watching Tiger Woods win the Masters. But family was above all in her eyes. Marie was the beloved wife of the late Edward J. Colosimo. Loving mother of Deborah Shruhan & her husband Michael of Wrentham, Joan Short & her husband Douglas of Medford, Nancy Rizza & her husband Anthony of Swampscott, Edward Colosimo & his wife Catherine of Wilmington and the late Anthony Colosimo. Devoted grandmother of Michael Shruhan, Matthew Shruhan & his wife Megha, Caroline Shruhan & the late Kathleen Shruhan, Harrison Short & Elizabeth Short, Samantha Rizza & her partner Daniel Julian & Jane Rizza, Christopher Colosimo & his wife Mariel, Sarah Colosimo & Emily Colosimo. Cherished great grandmother of Celina Rae Julian. Caring sister of Virginia O'Donnell of Reading, Theresa Fitzgerald of Groveland, John Martell & his wife Eleanor of Waltham, George "Buster" Martell of Methuen and the late Katherine Cooney, Ann Martell, Joseph Martell and Thomas "Jimmy" Martell. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives & friends. Visitation will be held at the Gately Funeral Home, 79 W. Foster St. Melrose on Friday, May 10, 2019 from 4:00-7:00PM. Funeral procession from the Gately Funeral Home on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at 8:45AM, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Church, Herbert St. Melrose at 10:00AM. Relatives & friends are respectfully invited to attend. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Marie's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Lane, Memphis, TN 38105 or @ www.stjude.org.

Ed - I am very sorry to hear of your Mom's passing. In reading all of the beautiful memories left here by others, and also knowing the type of person that you are, it is a testament to her life, and hopefully a comfort to you and your family, knowing that your Mother has left this world a much better place than the one she had found. You can never be prepared enough for this moment. However, through your grief there will be brief moments of fond memories that will sustain you. Slowly the grief is replaced more and more by these memories because that is what's truly everlasting. My prayers are with you and your family!

Cathy, Eddie and family... Marie was such a special person and will be greatly missed. She was always so very kind to my boys and I. One of the nicest people I knew who always seemed so happy when you saw her and talked with her. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
