Marie Ann Deschampe

Marie Ann Deschampe (Anangikwe)(Deezh), 40, of Grand Portage Mn. Passed away surrounded by family on february 5th, 2026 in Grand Portage.

She survived by her mother Lisa Dahmen, Father Wallace (Gail) Deschampe, all of Grand Portage. Her children Daunte (Cathy) and Elaina Deschampe. Lynicia Lightfeather and Grandchildren Zion and Sofia Sisters: Naomi,Amy, Kristen, Katelyn (Ben) and Karianna Deschampe. Brothers: Preston Olson, Bradley (Neomonie) and Trevor Deschampe. And Merlin Sherer. And many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her (Pa) John Olson. Grandparents: Florence and Roger Deschampe. Barbara Dahmen and Randolph Beaulieu. Brother: Kyler Deschampe Aunties: Denise Beaulieu and Tina Deschampe.

Marie was born on August 1st 1985 in Grand Marais Mn. She was a proud member of the Grand Portage band of Lake Superior Ojibwe and descendant of Red Lake Nation. She grew up in Grand Portage, Mn and attended school in Grand Marais and received a GED diploma. She lived back-and-forth between Duluth and Grand Portage, but always considered Grand Portage her home She was a mother of 3 children Daunte, Elaina and Lynicia. She just recently became a grandmother to baby Zion. Marie loved her children very much and was so proud to finally become a Grandma. She loved spending time with her family and friends or just driving around and listening to music. Marie was a go getter who got stuff done herself. She didn't like to ask for help. She had a true hustlers ambition but at the same time had a huge heart. She spent most of her life fighting diabetes and had many complications stemming from that. Some of which include recently becoming completely blind. Marie made a place in everyone's heart, where she will live forever.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February 13th, at 2PM, at the Grand Portage Community Center, 73 Upper Road, Grand Portage, MN 55605.
