Marie E. Evans, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on June 22, 1944, to the late Ethel May LaPlante and Omer Theroux, in Cohoes, NY, Marie was a cherished individual whose life was characterized by her generosity, intelligence, and unwavering commitment to her family and profession. She was known for her vibrant sense of humor and feisty personality. She departed this world in Bradenton, FL, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and resilience.
Marie's early days set the stage for a life full of learning and caring for others. She pursued her passion for healthcare by earning an Associate's Degree in Medical Science and dedicated her career to serving as a Registered Nurse in Critical Care. Her work was not just a job but a calling, as she touched countless lives with her skilled hands and compassionate heart.
Through life's challenges, she showed remarkable strength and independence, all while prioritizing the care of others. Her deep belief in faith and dedication to family were the cornerstones of her life. She cherished time with her grandchildren and great-grand babies, who called her Grammie, and took pride in all their accomplishments. Her love, charity, and kindness were evident in everything she did.
Family was the center of Marie's world and she is survived by many who loved her. She was a loving mother to Perdetta Jindra (Scott), Sheila Jeffrey (Ron), and Angela Clock (Mark). Her role as a grandmother was one she cherished deeply, sharing her love with Krista Doran (Jordan), Alivia Davidson (Jordan), Zack Jindra, Sean Lloyd (Diana), Nicole Lloyd, Coral Staley-Hall, and Torrence Hall (Amanda). Marie also embraced the joy of being a great-grandmother to Easton Doran and his soon-to-be-born brother, Vera, Evelyn, and Jeremiah Brown, Aviana and Sergio Lloyd-Toro, Lydia Lloyd-Jeffery, Jasmine and Jayna Lloyd, and Finley McGinnis. Her nurturing spirit will continue to resonate through the generations who will carry on her legacy.
Marie is preceded in death by her 5 brothers, Carl, David, Ralph, Omer, and Billy.
In her leisure, Marie was an avid reader, consuming every book she could get her hands on and often engaging in lively discussions about the latest novel she had finished or politics. She was also a keen follower of current events, staying informed through her favorite news source, Fox News. In her younger years, she was known for her love of football, horses, and scuba diving. She also spent many years bartending, which she used to support her way through school-a testament to her determination and independence.
Marie's life was marked by her loving and generous nature. She was the embodiment of intelligence, always seeking knowledge and understanding. Her ability to love unconditionally and her willingness to give selflessly were hallmarks of her character that will be missed by all who knew her.
As we bid farewell to Marie E. Evans, we remember a woman whose life was a portrait of love in action. Her legacy is engraved in the hearts of her family, friends, and all the lives she touched as a nurse. Marie's journey on earth has concluded, but her spirit will forever be a guiding light for those she leaves behind.
A private celebration of life will be held with family and close friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, a cause dear to her heart.
