Marie Higgins Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Nazare Memorial Home, Inc. - Lyndhurst on Mar. 4, 2026.
Marie C. Higgins (nee Ritchie), 93, died on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. Marie was born in Kearny and has lived most of her life in North Arlington. She married her love, John E. Higgins February 15, 1958 . Marie was a homemaker and her life's mission was that of a mother, grandmother and wife. After 28 years of marriage, John died in 1986, leaving Marie to raise her children and navigate the future on her own. With Conviction and grace, she continued to love and nurture her family. Marie's life revolved around being a mom to her four children. Her home was always filled with their friends. She loved her family, dogs, the New York Giants and planning the Devon Street block parties. She was affectionately nicknamed Murf. Although dementia took a toll on her in her final years, she never lost her happy and pleasant personality. She will be missed every day, but there is comfort knowing she is reunited with Jack, her parents and brothers and so many family members who have gone before her.

She is now at peace and rests in the arms of Jack again and enjoying a cup of tea with her beloved brothers, Andrew and Michael. Marie was predeceased by her beloved husband, John E. Higgins in 1986 and is survived by their loving children, John Higgins, Michael Higgins and his wife, Christine, Debra Sabato and her husband, Daniel and Daniel Higgins and his wife, Michele, by her cherished grandchildren, Jacob, Erin, Evan, Abigail, Patrick, Grace, Daniel (Christina), Derek, David, Dana, Matthew, Daniel, and Katelyn, and by her adored great granddaughters Amelia and Mackenzie. Also her beloved sister in law Peggy Ritchie and niece Luanne Wagner.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at Nazare Memorial Home, Inc., 403 Ridge Road, Lyndhurst, NJ on Thursday, March 5, 2026 from 11:30 AM - 12:45 PM. A funeral mass will be offered at Sacred Heart Church, Lyndhurst at 1 PM. Interment, Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
