Marie Iverson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals - Toms River at St. Catherine Blvd. on Nov. 11, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Marie Juliano Iverson, 89, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on September 4, 1936, in Newark, New Jersey, Marie lived a life defined by faith, compassion, and unwavering love for those around her.
On February 7, 1953, Marie married the love of her life, Joseph Iverson, and together they built a beautiful life filled with laughter, family, and countless memories. The two shared 56 happy years together until Joe's passing in 2009, remaining devoted to one another through every joy and challenge life brought.
In 1962, Marie and Joe settled in Kearny, New Jersey, where they raised their seven children: Debra Donald and her late husband Robert, GraceAnn Shivers and husband John, Joseph and wife Jill, Mark and wife June, Michael and wife Cathy, Linda Montgomery, and Michelle Corbet and husband Richard. Marie's legacy continues through her 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, each of whom carry a piece of her love and light within them.
Marie was a proud and devoted sister to Mark Juliano, and was predeceased by her beloved siblings Filomena Mastroeni, Geraldine Juliano, and Frank Juliano. She also leaves behind countless nieces, nephews, and friends who were touched by her generosity and warmth.
A true fixture in her community, Marie served as a crossing guard for 25 years, standing faithfully at one of Kearny's busiest intersections. Generations of children and neighbors knew her smile, her kindness, and her genuine care for everyone who crossed her path.
Marie's home was always open, and her heart even more so. She was the life of the party - hosting summer picnics and backyard barbecues filled with laughter, water balloon fights, egg tosses, dancing, and delicious food. She also loved a good poker game, often gathering family and friends around the table for some friendly competition and plenty of laughter. During the holidays, she could be found in her kitchen baking treats for the elderly in her neighborhood, always finding joy in bringing joy to others.
In 1995, Marie and Joe retired to Florida, where they spent their later years together surrounded by sunshine, family visits, and their shared faith. Marie was a lifelong churchgoer, deeply devoted to God, and she somehow knew every church schedule near each of her children's homes - a testament to her dedication and the importance faith played in her life.
Her siblings lovingly called her "Mary Marvel," a name that captured her essence as the Champion of All Causes - always ready to lend a hand, offer a prayer, or bring comfort to those in need.
Marie will be remembered as a beacon of love, faith, and strength - a woman who made the world brighter simply by being in it. Her laughter, her kindness, and her unshakable belief in the good of others will live on through the family she cherished so deeply and the many lives she touched along the way.
A service to celebrate Marie's life will be held on Tuesday, November 18, at 10:00 AM at Ocean County Memorial Park, located at 1722 Silverton Road, Toms River, NJ 08753.
Immediately following the service, family and friends are invited to join for a repast at Calloway's Restaurant & Bar, located in West Creek, New Jersey.
