Opelousas – A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 10, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. for Marie Emma Lanclos in the St. Landry Catholic Church in Opelousas. Fr. Neil Pettit will officiate the Mass. Burial will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marie Emma Richard Lanclos, who departed this life on March 6th at the age of 87. Marie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, whose warmth and wisdom touched the lives of all who knew her.
Born on October 20th, 1937, she grew up to be a pillar of strength and a beacon of love for her family and community. She was known for her kind heart, her dedication to her family, and her unwavering faith.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Irving Lanclos; her son, Darrell Lanclos; her daughter, Debra Lanclos; her grandson, Bralyn Lyons; her mother, Louise Courville Richard; her father, Homer Richard; and her sisters, Isabelle Moore, Mary Simoneaux, Dee's Credeur, Venola Richard, and Bernice Credeur. Also preceding her in death were her paternal grandparents, Benjamin Richard and Ashlee LaVergne; her maternal grandparents, Augustine Courville and Emma Courville; her husband John's parents, Elie Lanclos and Angeline Noel; his paternal great-grandparents, Jasazim Lanclos and Corinne Kidder; and his maternal great-grandparents, Luke Noel and Ezdela Stelly.
She is survived by her children, Mona Ewing (Mitch Ewing), Pamela Keith (Joe Keith), and Daniel Lanclos Sr. (Fonda Lanclos); her grandchildren, Mitchell Ewing Jr. (Amanda Ewing), Mandy Kober (Kyle Kober), Mathew Ewing (Olivia Ewing), Shane Gallier, Heather Garcia (Matthew Garcia), Daniel Lanclos Jr., and Michelle Lyons; and her great-grandchildren, Emma Claire Kober, AnnMarie Kober, Kolton Kober, Macie Ewing, Mitchell Mack Ewing III, Cameron Ewing, Camila Garcia, Abbigail Lanclos, Autumn Lanclos, Daniel James Lanclos III, Zélie Ewing, Haley Kober, Kai Mouton, and Kohen Guillory. She is also survived by her soon-to-be great-granddaughter, Rosalie Ewing, and her sister, Martha Castille. Marie is also remembered by her extended family and many dear friends.
Marie Emma Lanclos will be remembered for her generosity, bringing everyone together with her cooking and baking, her sense of humor, and her ability to bring joy to every room she entered. Her legacy of love and compassion will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. Her spirit, her laughter, and her love will remain with us always. Rest in peace.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 9, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas. A Rosary will be prayed on Sunday evening at 6:00 p.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel. On Monday, March 10, 2025, the funeral home will open at 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m.
