Marie R. Losco

Losco, Marie R., - 91, of Linwood, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2023 surrounded by her family and enveloped by love. It is with heavy hearts and loving prayers towards heaven that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Marie Losco. Marie's strength of spirit, grace, determination, and unwavering devotion to her family were just a few of the traits that endeared her to so many. Her loved ones-including her cherished sons, extraordinarily dedicated daughter-in-law Sharon, precious grandchildren, treasured nieces and nephews, and dear friends-are profoundly grateful for the privilege and gift of having had Marie in their lives. Marie was born in Philadelphia on June 23, 1932, and grew up in the city, graduating from Jules E. Mastbaum High School in 1949. She began her career at Philco Electric Co., working as an administrative secretary in the accounting department. Years later, she met Carlo Losco Jr. through friends and cousins in Philadelphia, and the rest, as they say, was history. Carlo Jr. quickly became the love of her life, and the couple married on May 1, 1954, following the conclusion of Carlo's service in the Korean War. The couple soon moved to Carlo's hometown of Atlantic City and raised two sons, Carlo Losco III and Christopher Losco. Throughout her life, Marie was a trail-blazer who routinely shattered glass ceilings. After moving to Atlantic City, she climbed the ranks in accounting at Townsend Cadillac and Pontiac, Lubeck Cadillac, and Coggins Chevrolet. Marie next became one of the first women to hold a Vice President and Controller position at a General Motors dealership in the Northeast, and received numerous industry honors and achievement awards as she oversaw the dealership's construction. However, if you knew Marie, you also knew that her pride and love for her family trumped all accolades. In 1972, Marie selflessly left the automobile industry to care for her husband. She subsequently assumed the role of Office Manager at Clofine Dairy, where she worked for over 30 years before retiring in her 70s. Marie was a superhuman wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, aunt, friend, and mentor who left an indelible imprint on all of our hearts. Her laughter was infectious, her wisdom deep, and her wit razor-sharp. She leaves this world having given more of herself to others than humanly possible and is loved beyond measure. Her beautiful spirit will continue to live on through her sons and grandchildren and all who were fortunate enough to have met her. Marie will always be the heart and soul of the Losco family and the best part of us. Marie was preceded in death by her Husband Carlo Losco Jr., Father Donato Ciotti, Mother Guiditta D'Olimpio, Sister Julia Novelli (Victor), and Brother Louis Ciotti (Diane). Survivors include Sons Carlo Losco III (Christina) and Christopher Losco (Sharon); Grandchildren John, Julie Simon (Eli), Christopher Jr. (Stephanie), Shelby, and Sydney; Sister-in- Law Pauline Pagoulatos; Nephews Victor Novelli (Diane), Daniel Novelli, and Michael Pagoulatos (Rita); and Nieces Diane Ciotti-Risioli (Joseph) and Judith Nicholson (Jack). Our family would like to extend a special thank you to Brandall Estates and the staff at Shore Memorial Hospital for their kindness and care of Marie. Services were private. Burial was private at Atlantic City Cemetery, Pleasantville. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude's Hospital, Shore Memorial Hospital, or the Belhaven School Band.
