Marie Trigg Puffer

Natick - PUFFER, Marie Trigg, 83, of Natick, Mass., died peacefully with her children at her side on Nov. 24, 2024 after a brave 30-year struggle with blood cancer. Born Dec. 28, 1940, she was the daughter of the late D. Thomas and Marie Trigg. She was a graduate of Wellesley High School class of 1959 and attended Colorado University and Katherine Gibbs School. Marie resided in Acton, Mass. for 22 years before moving to Boston, Marblehead, Westborough, Fox Hill Village in Westwood, Weston, and finally Natick. Marie was an outgoing people person with an infectious laugh. She enjoyed entertaining, singing in the chorus, and playing bridge. She started the first Fox Hill cancer support group for residents. Marie was an active theatergoer and patron of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Earlier in her life she taught swim lessons, learned to pilot a small plane and was a real estate broker. Marie was a volunteer for her church, schools and Emerson Hospital, organizing many large fundraisers. Fiercely independent, Marie owned and operated a bed and breakfast in the old town of Marblehead while continuing to broker in real estate.

Marie is survived by a son and daughter, Brad Puffer (and Loren) of Framingham, Mass. and Sarah McCarthy (and Justin) of Bedford, N.H.; her beloved five grandchildren, Maya and Claire Puffer, and Ryan, Mackenzie and Colin McCarthy; three of her four sisters, Carol Friedley (and David) of Bend, Ore., Margery Duncan (and the late Paul) of Naples, Fla. and Mashpee, Mass., Ruth Barrett (and Steve) of Naples, Fla. and Kennebunkport, Maine, and preceded in death by the late Gayle Hoshour (and surviving Rich) of Orange Park, Fla.; her former husband Robert W. Puffer III (and his wife Jane); and many nieces and nephews.
