Bluffton, South Carolina - Marie B. Rich passed away on August 3, 2022 at the Vineyard in Bluffton, S.C.
She was 91. Her strong sense of faith allowed her to pass peacefully with courage and dignity.
Marie is survived by her daughter Denise Fitzgerald (Mike), son David Rich (Cindy), daughter Suellen Nida (Paul), 8 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren she loved dearly. A brother Carl Burkhardt and a sister Virginia Burkhardt Berg also survive her. She loved spending time her family, and she will be missed.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 65 years, Roy L. Rich, her mother Mildred Trott Burkhardt, her father Karl E. Burkhardt, her sister Bernice Burkhardt Larner, and her oldest daughter Marianne Rich White.
Marie was born in Rochester, NY but raised her family in Seattle, Washington; Metairie, Louisiana; and Huntsville, Alabama, while supporting her husband Roy in his career with the Boeing Company. She made lifelong friends everywhere she lived. Marie loved to travel, whether it was in a pop-up camper with her husband and four children or cruising the rivers of Europe during their retirement. Even during those adventures, Marie managed to foster new friendships.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Crescent Hospice at 1024 Berkeley Hall Blvd, Bluffton, SC 29909 or the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

Marie and I did water aerobic classes together in Vancouver Washington and became good friends. We went to coffee after our class and shared many Good times, often either going to lunch with her and her husband Roy, or visiting them in their beautiful home. I loved
her very much and missed her when she moved away, but I used to call her and check on her and was afraid something had happened when I couldn't reach her in the last several months. she was a wonderful friend and we shared our faith in the Lord together. I will miss her not being here on this Earth any longer but I look forward to seeing her again one day. LeAnn Wakefield
