Fairborn, OH-Marie H. Risse, 93, of Fairborn, OH, passed away Sunday night, July 15, 2012 at Summit at Park Hills in Fairborn. Born September 30, 1918 in Newton, NJ, she is the daughter of the late Raymond and Helen (Sutton) Smith. Marie graduated in 1936 from Newton High School and received an RN degree from St. Luke's School of Nursing. Marie also attended Trenton State University in Trenton, NJ earning a BA Degree in Elementary education. While Marie's children were young, she managed a turkey and poultry operation and became President of the New Jersey Turkey Growers Association. As her children grew older, Marie became the school nurse at Frankfort Township School resulting in her becoming the President of the New Jersey School Nurses Association. Church was very important to Marie who was a member of the West Hebron United Methodist Church. She served on the National Board of School Nurses Association and was the past Commodores wife of the Mt. Dora Yacht Club in Mt. Dora, FL and a member of the Mt. Dora Garden Club. Marie was a great hostess and spent summers at Scotts Lake in Salem. She loved playing bridge and enjoyed cooking. In addition to her parents, Marie was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Austin A. Risse; a daughter-in-law, Charlotte M. Risse; a son-in-law, Kenneth E. Nutter. Marie is survived by her children, Thomas A. Risse of West Hebron and Melinda R. Nutter of Beavercreek, OH. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Tonia M. Risse, Katie McCallum & Jonathan Nutter and four great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 9:00 am Sunday, August 5, 2012 at the West Hebron United Methodist Church, 3178 County Route 30, West Hebron, NY with Rev. Debbie Earthrowl officiating. Interment will be at 12:30 pm Sunday, August 5, 2012 at Evergreen Cemetery (new section) in Salem, NY. Those who wish to remember Marie in a special way may make memorial contributions in her name to the West Hebron United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 412, Salem, NY 12865 or St. Andrew United Methodist Church, 350 N. Fairfield Road, Beavercreek, OH 45430.
