SIMMONDS: Funeral services for Marie D. Simmonds, 86, who passed away on January 13, 2026, will be held Thursday, January 22, 2026 at 12 Noon from the graveside in New Berlin Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 21, 2026 from 6-8 PM at the Moloney-Hewell Funeral Home, 4140 University Boulevard South, Jacksonville, Florida 32216. Mrs. Simmonds was born in Sparta, Tennessee and was a longtime resident of Jacksonville, Florida. She was very active in preserving her community. She was a member of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, the late Willie L. "Boo" Simmonds. Mrs. Simmonds lovingly raised her children, grandchildren and countless others. Survivors include her 3 daughters, Helen Annette Simmonds, Dusty Lynn Simmonds, and Ronda Lee Simmonds; 1 sister, Esther Lois Prater; 3 grandchildren, Susie Gigliotti (Michael), Lynnette Simmonds and Jason Simmonds (Emily); 12 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
